Steps for Healing 5K : Remembrance run and virtual option
Steps for Healing is a remembrance run/walk that raises funds for the Children’s Bereavement Center (CBC), which provides free grief support groups for children, teens and adults in South Florida. The event is scheduled for November 7 and 8, 2026, with in-person activities held at Zoo Miami, 12400 SW 152 Street, Miami, FL 33177.
The program includes an in-person 5K timed run/walk that begins in the parking area and continues into Zoo Miami. In-person registration packages list race timing, a race day t-shirt, all-day admission to Zoo Miami, a continental breakfast, a kids corner with activities and medals, a live DJ, medals for top finishers and a customizable fundraising page. A spectator option includes access to the Asia Field and the start/finish area, zoo admission, breakfast, kids activities and a fundraising page.
A virtual 5K option is available for participants who prefer to run or walk remotely during the event weekend. Virtual entries include RaceJoy app tracking and results, a customizable digital race bib, a post-event race t-shirt, memorial activities and a fundraising page.
The event offers fundraising tools and a "Sponsor My Run" target that notes raising $1,680 funds one child’s access to CBC groups for a year. Volunteer roles are available, with limited spots and community service hours for high school students; volunteers complete a one-hour orientation on Zoom the week of the event.
