Steps for Healing 5K Supporting CBC
Steps for Healing is a remembrance run and walk taking place the weekend of November 7–8, 2026, with an in person event at Zoo Miami and a virtual option. The event raises funds for the Children’s Bereavement Center, which provides free grief support groups for children, teens, and adults in South Florida.
The in person event at Zoo Miami includes official run/walk timing, all day admission to the zoo, a race t-shirt with size not guaranteed for late registrations, free continental breakfast, a Kids Corner with activities, a live DJ, kids finish line medals and medals for top finishers. Registration categories include reduced rates for students and children and free entry for children under three. A spectator entry option provides access to the Asia Field and the race start and finish area and includes zoo admission and on site activities; spectator registrations do not include the race day shirt.
The virtual option allows participants to run or walk from any location during the race weekend and uses the RaceJoy app for tracking and results. Virtual registrations include a customizable digital bib, a race t-shirt delivered after the event, customizable fundraising pages, and CBC memorial activities to accompany a personal remembrance.
The event supports fundraising and team participation. For every $1,680 raised, one child can attend CBC grief support groups for a full year. Volunteer opportunities and limited community service hours are available for high school students; volunteers take a required one hour orientation before the event.
