Step Up Sky Tower Challenge - event overview
The Step Up Sky Tower Challenge is a fundraising stair-climb at Auckland’s Sky Tower scheduled for Sunday, 2 August 2026. Participants climb 1,103 steps, equal to 51 flights, from ground level to the top of the tower. The event format accepts both individual entrants and organised teams.
Fundraising supports Blood Cancer NZ and is central to the event. Registrants are encouraged to set a fundraising target of $1,103, representing one dollar for every step. A virtual option is available with specific conditions, and an in-gym team challenge run by Snap Fitness during August contributes steps and funds to the event total.
Entry pricing is listed as Early Bird $70 until 31 May, Standard $80, and Virtual free where conditions apply. Registration times will be allocated and published two weeks before the event; participants are grouped into waves throughout the day. Participants with a history of cardiac or lung conditions are advised to seek medical advice before training or taking part.
Prizes and rewards are offered to fundraisers and participants, including a prize draw for a hotel night. The event publishes cumulative fundraising and participation figures such as total raised and the number of teams and steppers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
