About the race
Step Up for the Brave is the 12th annual event presented by Homes for the Brave and takes place in August 2027 at Sacred Heart University Martire Family Arena in Fairfield, CT. The program combines in-person and virtual options over several days.
One in-person option is the STEP UP Run/Stair Climb Challenge. It is a 90 minute chip timed stair climb held on a course that circles the interior of the arena. Each lap covers 0.40 miles and includes 500 stairs climbed. The registration fee is $40.00 and the participation package includes a complimentary event shirt.
A second in-person option is the STEP UP Walk Challenge. This is a 90 minute stair climb and walking course that circles the interior and includes a stroll around the exterior of the ice rink on each lap. Each lap covers 0.20 miles and is described as including steps and stairs; the listed figures include 450 steps taken and 80 stairs climbed. The registration fee is $40.00 and the participation package includes a complimentary event shirt.
A third option is the Step UP virtual challenge. This is a five day virtual step challenge completed at participants' own pace and location. The virtual entry also carries a $40.00 fee and includes a complimentary event shirt. All event activities support Homes for the Brave.
