Event overview
Step Up and Step Out 2026 is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 150 Park Ave, Norfolk, VA 23510. The event includes two options: the Step Up Stair Climb held inside Harbor Park and the Step Out 5K run/walk on the Elizabeth River Trail. Entry for each event is listed at $40. The stair climb is open to participants aged 5 and older; the walk/run has no age limits. Youth entrants receive a 50% discount.
Purpose and format
The event is a fundraising activity for The Up Center. Funds support services such as foster care and adoption, mental health counseling, housing support, and youth mentoring. Participants must select one event at registration; that event will be timed. After finishing the timed event, participants may complete the other course at their leisure if time allows.
Logistics and policies
Packet pickup location is to be determined; race-day pickup will be available. Someone else may pick up a packet if they have the registrant’s name. There is no bag check. Parking is available at Harbor Park with signage for event parking and drop-off. Baby joggers and strollers are permitted on the walk/run and should queue near the end of the corral. An EMT will be present in Harbor Park for the climb and along the Elizabeth River Trail for the walk/run. Results will be posted on RunSignup.
