Steel City 12 Hour Run & Ruck : August 1–2, 2026
The Steel City 12 Hour Run & Ruck is a timed, 12-hour event held in Middletown, Ohio at Smith Park (500 Tytus Avenue). The event program includes a 12 Hour Run and a 12 Hour Ruck. Entry price is $60 per event and registration opens January 1, 2026. Race shirts are available for purchase for $25 if bought before July 10. Participants must be at least 16 years old; minors require a guardian present.
Course, logistics and rules
The course is a paved loop of 1.52 miles around Smith Park that runs parallel to Middletown Regional Airport and is described as very flat. The objective is to complete as many loops as possible within the 12-hour period. Timing will be chipped by Brunning Endurance Company. One aid station at the start/finish area will provide water, vegetable soup, and other refreshments; participants may bring a canopy and personal aid along the course. For the ruck event, participants must carry a minimum of 25 pounds; packs will be weighed at the start and end, with scales available at registration. Backpack-style rucks are required to be eligible for awards; vests are not allowed.
Awards and charity
Unique finisher awards handcrafted by students of Art Central Foundation will be given for completing set distances. Top male and female awards will be presented for both runners and ruckers. Proceeds from the event and 100% of shirt sales will be donated to Art Central Foundation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
