Steamworks Half Marathon
The Steamworks Half Marathon is a high elevation road race held in the San Juan Mountains near Durango, Colorado. The USATF certified course covers 13.1 miles as a point to point route along County Road 250 from Baker's Bridge to the Durango Fitness Club on Florida Road. The race takes place at about 6,500 feet above sea level and is limited to 250 participants.
The route is not closed to traffic, is marked with orange cones, and has mile markers. Porta potties are provided at the start location, a midpoint location, and the finish area. Five aid stations are located roughly every two miles; they provide water and Tailwind sports drink, and some stations offer GU and snacks and a porta potty.
Race day transportation is organized from the Durango Fitness Club to the start line on a first come first served basis, and the start area is drop off only with no parking available. Parking is available at the Durango Fitness Club finish area with overflow parking at Grace Church, 1440 Florida Rd. Packet pickup is held the day before at Durango Running Company and on race morning at Durango Fitness Club.
All finishers receive a custom pint glass. Overall winners and age group winners receive gift certificates and awards. A post race pool party at Durango Fitness Club includes food and beverages provided by Steamworks Brewing and Homeslice Pizza. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
