Steaming Down The Valley
Steaming Down The Valley is a Severn Valley trail running event returning in 2026. It offers chip timed, off road races through woodland and along riverside trails beside the Severn Valley Railway. The event date is Saturday 6 June 2026.
Distances include:
- 5 km trail run on woodland and riverside paths.
- 10 km trail run on woodland and riverside paths.
The course is fully off road and runs on dirt, gravel and grass. Runners should expect natural undulations and the possibility of soft or muddy ground underfoot. For part of the route, participants run in parallel with a steam train that operates on the adjacent Severn Valley Railway.
The event also lists a paddlesports option and mentions the possibility to race by boat. Timing for the foot races is chip based. The event supports local organisations including Shropshire's Great Outdoors, West Mercia Search & Rescue and the Severn Valley Railway.
