Steaming Down the Valley
Steaming Down the Valley is a trail running and paddlesports event held at Severn Valley Country Park in Alveley, Bridgnorth on 5 June 2027. Race headquarters are at the Country Park Halt station beside the Severn Valley Railway, and the courses follow woodland paths and riverside trails alongside the River Severn.

- 5 km trail race
- Paddlesports race for canoe kayak or SUP
The trail races are fully off road on a mix of dirt paths, woodland trail, gravel and grass with natural undulations and uneven footing. Conditions may include muddy or soft sections along the riverside; trail shoes are recommended. The 5k finishes at Arley station. The 10k has a new route for 2027 that is undergoing final checks.
The paddlesports race starts from the Miner’s bridge and runs along a sheltered section of river with small riffles. Competitors must bring their own craft; buoyancy aids are mandatory and helmets are required for closed cockpit and stand up craft. No rescue cover is provided. Entry deadlines close 1 June 2027. Age rules apply: runners must be 15 or over on race day for the 5k and 10k, and paddlesports entrants must be 18 or over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
