Staveley is a trail running event provisionally scheduled for Saturday 1 May 2027, starting and finishing at Staveley Recreation Ground. Routes follow fully marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways with panoramic views of the southern Lakeland fells. The course terrain is variable: short sections of tarmac, grassy paths, stony bridleways and some stiles near the end.
Courses include:
- 5K Kentmere Sport Trail
- 10K Kentmere Trail Run
- Half Marathon Trail 1/2-ish Marathon
- Fun Trails for under 12s, entry on the day
The routes climb out above the Kentmere valley, pass tarns and ancient woodland, and include the climb up Reston Scar, known as the Sting in the Trail, before a steep final descent into the village. Access to the final climb on Reston Scar is across private land; organisers have replaced the previous access with an alternative route that adds approximately 500 m to the 10K and Half Marathon.
Event facilities include marshals, Advanced Life Support medics, live music, race commentary, food and drink stalls, event merchandise, a professional photographer and on-site toilets. Water stations are provided on the longer course and runners are asked to bring a reusable cup. For safety, in-ear headphones are not allowed; bone conductor devices are permitted. Dogs are not allowed on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
