About the race
Staveley is a trail running event based at Staveley Recreation Ground, provisionally scheduled for Saturday 1 May 2027. Courses follow fully marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways through the southern Lakeland fells, climbing out above the Kentmere valley and returning along valley trails past tarns and ancient woodland.
Distances include:
- 5K Kentmere Sport Trail
- 10K Kentmere Trail Run
- Half marathon Trail 1/2-ish Marathon
Underfoot conditions are varied: short sections of tarmac, grassy paths, stony bridleways and some stiles. The half marathon route goes over Green Quarter Fell, past Skeggles Water and into Longsleddale, with a feed station before Kentmere. The final climb on the 10K and half marathon routes uses private land on Reston Scar and recces on that section are not permitted; organisers have provided an alternative route that adds roughly 500 m to those courses.
Event facilities at the start and finish include a race village with live music, race commentary, traders and food stalls. Practical notes include parking in fields an 8 to 10 minute walk from the event centre (fees apply), one water station on the 10K and water stations at about 12 km and 17.5 km on the half, a baggage area, and on course marshal and medic cover.
