Starting Point's 2026 Family Glow Night
Starting Point’s Annual 5k & Family Glow Night on October 3, 2026 is a fundraising event held just outside the chapel at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. The event centers on a relaxed 5k that begins and ends in front of the MVNU chapel and uses a three-lap route around the campus. Walkers may choose the number of laps they complete; runners who wish to cover the full distance are asked to stay on the outside edge of the route. A large timer clock will be visible at the finish and participants are responsible for noting their own finish time.
Family-oriented activities accompany the run, including a bounce house provided by Mount Vernon Bounce House, coffee from Sweet Bubble & Bean Coffee Truck, and ice cream from Round Hill Dairy. All children receive a ticket for one free ice cream treat; adults may purchase coffee and ice cream. Free refreshments such as water, fruit and granola bars will also be available.
Prizes include awards for the first man, woman, student and child (ages 4 to 12) to complete the full 5k route, a grand prize drawing for adult attendees, and a pizza party for the youth group that raises the most funds. The event requires registration and serves as a fundraiser to support Starting Point, which offers prenatal medical services, education, material assistance, counseling and reproductive loss support at no cost.
