St. Petersburg Marathon, St. Petersburg, Florida
The St. Petersburg Marathon is a USATF certified marathon (FL19019TY) and a Boston Qualifier. The event for 2027 is listed as the 7th annual running of the race. It is held entirely within St. Petersburg and follows a mostly flat, waterfront and urban route on the Gulf Coast.
The course begins and ends at North Shore Park on the downtown waterfront and passes through Snell Isle and Coffee Pot Bayou. A single small bridge of about 10 feet is the only notable incline in the first ten miles. The route continues along the downtown waterfront and Central Avenue, circles Mirror Lake, and includes an out-and-back section on Central Avenue where runners pass local murals and businesses.
At about mile 10 runners join the Pinellas Trail, a smoothly paved shaded linear park recognized in the Rails to Trails Hall of Fame. The trail section includes two overpasses that are crossed twice. The finish returns to North Shore Park with views of marinas and waterfront docks. The course is measured for accuracy and has produced Boston qualifier finishers; in 2026, 6.2% of finishers qualified for Boston. External rankings list the course among faster marathon courses in the U.S. and in Florida.
Race support includes aid stations, roadside musicians, post-race awards with live music, food and beverages, reserved parking for marathoners near the finish, and pacers provided by Beast Pacing. A virtual marathon option is also offered.
