St. Petersburg Marathon
The St. Petersburg Marathon is a USATF certified race (FL19019TY) and a Boston Qualifier that covers 26.2 miles entirely within the city of St. Petersburg, Florida. The course follows the downtown waterfront and passes through historic neighborhoods, arts-oriented streets, and the Pinellas Trail.
The route begins at North Shore Park on the downtown waterfront and proceeds north into Snell Isle, around Coffee Pot Bayou, then returns toward downtown. Runners pass Mirror Lake and Central Avenue, which features many large murals, before reaching the Pinellas Trail near mile 10. The Pinellas Trail section is a smoothly paved, shaded linear park with two overpasses that are each crossed twice. The course returns toward the waterfront, passing Tropicana Field, marinas, and docks on the way back to North Shore Park. There is one small bridge about 10 feet high early in the course. The marathon has been accurately measured and certified for qualifying purposes.
Race services include numerous aid stations along the course, live musicians on course, pacers supplied by Beast Pacing with several target times, reserved parking for marathon participants, and a post-race awards ceremony with live music, food, and beverages. A virtual marathon option is offered for participants who prefer to run the distance offsite. Nearby beaches are noted as a post-race destination.
