St. Paul Strassenlauf
St. Paul Strassenlauf is a community road race held on the grounds of St. Paul Catholic Church at Ninth and Lemon Streets in Highland, IL. The event includes multiple race options and divisions, listed below:
- 2K run/walk
- 5K run/walk (including wheelchair and heavy-weight divisions)
- 10K run
The 5K course loops through paved, tree-lined residential streets and is described as slightly hilly. Mile markers are posted and splits are recorded at 1 and 2 miles. The course includes two water stops and course marshals at intersections.
Entry fees start at $25 for early entries and increase to $30 for late entries; no refunds. Debit or credit card payment is preferred. Online registration is available at stpaulkirchenfest.com. Competitive entries have a cutoff 30 minutes before the race.
Shirts are available to entrants who register by the stated deadline, and moisture-wicking performance shirts are provided to the first 500 entrants (adult sizes only). Awards include plaques for overall winners, custom-cast medallions for top age-group finishers in the 5K and 10K, and medals for 2K participants 12 and under. Post-race refreshments and a Bavarian skillet breakfast are available on the church grounds in the morning. For safety, wearing headphones is strongly discouraged; racers with dogs on a leash and runners using strollers must start after other racers.
