St. Paul Strassenlauf
The St. Paul Strassenlauf is a community running event held in Highland, Illinois, as part of the St. Paul Kirchenfest. The event features several race options that start and finish on the St. Paul Catholic Church grounds at Ninth and Lemon Streets. Participants can choose from multiple course lengths:
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 2 km
The routes consist of loops through paved, tree-lined residential streets. The terrain is described as slightly hilly. To assist runners, the course includes markers at every mile, water stops, and marshals stationed at all intersections. Participants who register by the early deadline receive a moisture-wicking performance shirt.
The event includes several categories for competition, including age-group divisions and a wheelchair division. Plaques are awarded to the top three overall male and female winners in each race, as well as the top masters finishers aged 40 and over. Custom-cast medallions are also presented to the top three finishers in various age brackets. In the 2 km event, all finishers aged 12 and under receive a participation medal.
Following the races, post-race refreshments are provided to participants. A Bavarian Skillet Breakfast is also available for purchase on the church grounds during the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
