The Original 2026 St. Patrick’s Day Road Race
The St. Patrick’s Day Road Race marks its 39th annual edition in Calgary. Organized by the Calgary Roadrunners since 1987, this event serves as the city's first major race of the year. The competition is held at Central Memorial High School and focuses on community gathering and post-winter fitness testing.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 10 km
- 5 km
Registered runners receive a long-sleeve athletic shirt and a hot post-race meal, which includes both meat and vegetarian options. An optional finisher medal is available during the registration process. The event features a beer garden with Village Brewery products and an awards ceremony for top finishers and age-group winners.
Package pickup is scheduled at Strides Marda Loop and Strides Fish Creek in the days leading up to the race. Proceeds from the event benefit the Calgary Roadrunners and Diabetes Canada. On-site festivities include warm drinks, prize draws, and a competition where two participants can win their weight in beer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
