About the race
The Silver Springs cross-country event is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2026, as race number six in the CRR Grand Prix Series. The venue is on the north side of Bowmont Park, about 200 m south of the Silver Springs Community Hall.
Race distances:
- 0.5-1 km: Children 12 and under
- 4 km: Children 12 and under; Masters 70+; male and female open
- 8 km: Age groups in 10-year brackets; male and female
Online pre-registration closes on the evening of the Friday before the race. Cash payment is accepted on site at the start/finish area. A parent or guardian must sign a waiver for participants under 18. Entry fees are listed as General $12, CRR Members $8, Full-Time Students $6, and Children 12 and under free.
Course notes: the 4 km and 8 km runs traverse hillsides, gullies, and thickets; the 4 km shares the initial segment of the 8 km. Expect mud, ice, or snow and consider treaded shoes or spikes. Parts of the course run through unleashed dog areas. Toilets are available at the community hall; participants are asked not to use bushes as toilet spots.
Post-race food and social are held at the Silver Springs Community Association on the ground floor. Hot soup, rolls, and beverages are provided by CRR volunteers; contributors are asked to bring soup in an electric crock pot if needed, a dessert to share, and their own mug, bowl, and spoon. Volunteer roles include setup, timing, results management, course marshaling, and kitchen help. Events proceed only if temperatures stay above -20°C and final decisions rest with the Race Directors. Past results from recent years are available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
