St. Paddy's Run at Evergreen Cemetery
St. Paddy's Run offers two road race distances through historic Evergreen Cemetery in Jacksonville. The course is mostly shaded beneath oak and magnolia trees and the certified routes have marked miles and turns with digital clocks at most miles.
Distances
- 5K
- 10K
Both races share the same start area near the cemetery entrance and finish in a common finish area. Races are chip timed using a timing chip on the race bib; participants are asked to wear the bib on the front and not to fold or cover the chip. Bikes and dogs are not allowed on the course; biking next to a runner may lead to disqualification.
All participants receive finisher medals and moisture-wicking technical shirts with gender-specific sizing. Overall and age-group awards are given in both the 5K and 10K; the 10K also offers prize money (1st place male and female $200, 2nd $100, 3rd $50, plus masters prizes) and is part of the Jacksonville Grand Prix series. Age-group categories run from 10 and under up through 80 and over.
Entry fees increase by date, ranging from $30 early entry to $50 on race day. Packet pickup is available at selected 1st Place Sports locations on the days before the race and at the race site. Proceeds benefit the Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council and The Evergreen Cemetery Association. There are no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
