About the race
The St Lucie Skeeter Skoot is an ultramarathon event held on South Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce, Florida, in its ninth year. The course runs on hard-compact mangrove-lined trails through wetlands along the Indian River Lagoon and passes areas with abundant native wildlife.
The event offers the following distances:
- 100K
- 50K
- 100K relay
- 50K relay
Relay teams allow a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 runners per team. Individual and relay events have specific registration periods and fees: individual 100K and 50K registration opens 2026-09-14 and closes 2026-10-15 with fees of $150 and $100 respectively; relay registration opens 2026-09-14 and closes 2026-10-31 with team fees of $165 for the 100K relay and $159 for the 50K relay.
There will be no pre-race packet pickup. Race check-in is scheduled on Saturday morning from 5:00 AM until 6:00 AM at the event location, 2601 S Ocean Dr, Fort Pierce, FL 34949. The course environment may include sightings of coastal birds such as egrets, roseate spoonbills, herons, ibis, osprey, and pelicans, as well as terrestrial wildlife like bobcats, otters, raccoons, armadillos, and marsh hares.
