St. Joseph, Missouri Marathon
The St. Joseph, Missouri Marathon is the fourth annual event presented by Gray Manufacturing and hosted by the St. Joseph Sports Commission in partnership with the Junior League of St. Joseph. It takes place at Civic Center Park in downtown St. Joseph on September 26, 2026 and uses start and finish areas behind Civic Center Park.
The event offers multiple race options:
- Full marathon 26.2 miles
- Half marathon 13.1 miles
- 10K 6.2 miles
- 5K 3.1 miles
- Relay covering the full route for five persons
Both the full and half marathon courses are USATF certified and eligible for Boston qualification. Routes travel from the north to the south side of the city and incorporate historic streets, local landmarks, and the parkway system. Terrain varies and includes uphill sections and scenic downhill finishes; the course is divided into distinct legs with varying profiles. Marathon participants must complete the course within a six hour limit. Pacers are provided in partnership with Runners Edge KC. Relay teams are responsible for their own transportation to exchange points.
Aid stations are placed every two to three miles and provide water, Gatorade, GU Energy gel, basic first aid items, and portable toilets. Participant amenities include a branded shirt, towel, finisher medal, swag bag, race bib and timing chip. Timing is handled by Athlinks/ChronoTrack Live. Post-race activities in Civic Center Park feature complimentary food and drink offerings, live music, and vendor booths.
