SSG Tanner Grone Memorial 5K
The SSG Tanner Grone Memorial 5K is a memorial race held on July 11, 2026 at SSG Tanner Grone Soccer Field, 46 Libby St, Gorham, New Hampshire. The event remembers the life and military service of SSG Tanner Grone and raises funds to support a Gorham and Berlin High School Senior.
This is the second annual edition, organized by a family member and a close friend. Tanner enlisted in the Army on July 11, 2017 and served as a crew chief with the 160th at Fort Campbell. He was killed on November 10, 2023 during an overwater training exercise in Cyprus.
The in-person 5K course starts at the soccer field and winds through the town, passing Tanner’s childhood home and the schools he attended. Post-race activities include light refreshments, music, and yard games. Event options include an in-person 5K, a virtual 5K for participants running or walking remotely, and a Nightstalker group event at Fort Campbell intended only for those who will run with the organized group.
