Sri Chinmoy Mara-Fun Relays - Centennial Park, Sydney
The Sri Chinmoy Mara-Fun Relays offers the full marathon distance of 42.2km either as a solo event or as a relay for teams of two to four members. The course is a 4km loop around the ponds and groves of Centennial Park's southwestern precinct. The marathon comprises ten full 4km loops plus one partial 2.2km loop, with the shorter leg run first to complete 11 legs in total.
Relay teams use a timing baton that carries the electronic chip; each runner must carry the baton while running and hand it to the next runner within a designated change-over zone. Teams must exchange the baton at the end of every loop, and no runner may run consecutive legs. Each team member must run at least one leg and may run up to six legs. Teams nominate a team name and a team captain when entering. Mixed teams qualify if a minimum of five relay legs are completed by female team members.
There is electronic chip timing with full splits for every leg and refreshment stations supplying water, sports drink and fruit approximately every 2km. Medallions are awarded to all solo marathon finishers and there are awards for top teams across All-Female, Mixed and Open divisions and age categories. A full post-event pancake breakfast is provided for all participants. Free parking is available along Grand Drive and registration and the start/finish area are alongside the McKay Sportsground.
