Sri Chinmoy Mara-Fun Relays : Centennial Park, Sydney
The Sri Chinmoy Mara-Fun Relays stages the full marathon distance of 42.2km in Centennial Park, Sydney. Runners may complete the full distance solo or share it in relay teams of 2, 3 or 4 members. The course is a 4km loop that explores ponds and groves in the park's southwestern precinct; the full marathon comprises one initial partial leg of 2.2km followed by ten full 4km loops, for 11 legs in total.
Refreshment stations provide water, sports drink and fruit approximately every 2km. Electronic chip timing is used with full split times for every leg; for relay teams the timing chip is attached to the team baton. Teams must carry the baton while running and hand it to the next runner inside the designated change-over zone. No relay runner may run consecutive legs; each member must complete at least one leg and may run up to six legs. Teams nominate a team name and a team captain on entry and record the sequence of runners on the form issued at Registration.
Event facilities include registration alongside McKay Sportsground and free parking along Grand Drive within Centennial Park. All solo finishers receive medallions and there are awards across multiple age and team divisions. A post-event pancake breakfast is provided for all participants.
