Event Overview
The Sri Chinmoy 5K & Half-Marathon takes place in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The event features two distances: a 5K and a Half-Marathon.
Course Details
The course is a scenic and mostly flat loop around the historic park. It is USATF certified and starts at the north end of Meadow Lake. Runners pass landmarks including the World's Fair Unisphere, Fountain of the Planets, Queens Zoo, New York State Pavilion, and Queens Museum of Art.
- The 5K consists of one loop.
- The Half-Marathon consists of one 5K loop followed by three 5.37K loops. There are aid stations approximately every mile.
Amenities and Registration
Participants receive a vented running cap and all finishers get a custom medal. Freshly made fruit smoothies are provided after the race. Other amenities include free parking and bag check. Registration is tiered, with prices increasing as the event date approaches. There is no race-day registration and entries cannot be transferred. A packet shipping option is available for a fee for US addresses; otherwise, packet pickup is at the race site before the start.
Awards and Policies
Awards are given in men's and women's categories for both distances, with multiple placements in age groups (Under 50, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & over). The event has time limits: 1 hour for the 5K and 3 hours 15 minutes for the Half-Marathon. Age restrictions apply: the 5K is open to ages 13 and up, and the Half-Marathon to ages 16 and up.
