Brooklyn Duathlon (USAT Sanctioned)
Brooklyn Duathlon is a multisport event held at Prospect Park with transitions at the Lincoln Road entrance. The event is USAT sanctioned and the organizer notes that USA Triathlon membership includes participant accident insurance coverage up to $25,000 for registered athletes during the event.
The duathlon course comprises two identical runs of 3.34 miles around the park and a 13.4 mile bike segment completed as four laps on park roads. The 5K running event uses the same 3.34 mile loop on the main road. Any bike with brakes is permitted for the duathlon; athletes are advised to consider wind conditions for deep dish wheels. No rental bikes are available.
Race numbers and timing details: jersey numbers go on the front, bicycle numbers may be placed on the seat post or top tube, and helmet numbers go on the front. Timing chips from other races may remain on the bicycle because semi-manual timing is used. Draft results for the duathlon will be available as soon as the final participant finishes and online results are normally published within 48 hours.
Practical notes: public parking is limited near the park and portable restrooms and water will be available by the transition area. Awards include medals for the top three men and women, finisher medals, and finisher training jerseys; age group awards may be offered if registration meets minimums.
