Sri Chinmoy Canberra Trail 100
The Sri Chinmoy Canberra Trail 100 is an endurance running event that highlights the nature parks and trails throughout Australia's capital city. The course follows a wide loop that begins and ends at Rond Terrace, situated at the base of Anzac Parade on Lake Burley Griffin. Participants navigate through various terrains including hills, open spaces, and urban nature parks.
The race offers two primary entry formats:
- 100 km Solo
- 100 km Relay (Teams of 2-4 members)
The relay is divided into four distinct legs. The route passes through several landmarks and reserves, including Parliament House, Red Hill, Isaacs Ridge, Mt Taylor, Stromlo Forest Park, the National Arboretum, Black Mountain Reserve, Mt Majura, and Mt Ainslie. The course is well-marked and features multiple number checkpoints where officials record athlete progress.
Participants have access to aid stations approximately every 10 km, which provide water, sports drinks, and fruit. Solo runners are required to carry a minimum of 500 ml of fluids and a mobile phone. Specific safety regulations apply for the final leg; any solo runner or relay participant starting the last section after 4:30 pm must carry a headlamp or torch and be accompanied by a pacer or another competitor. The event concludes with a post-race buffet meal for all runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
