Sri Chinmoy Canberra Trail 100
The Sri Chinmoy Canberra Trail 100 is a 100 km trail event held partly within Canberra Nature Park and nearby reserves. The course forms a wide loop that starts and finishes at Rond Terrace beside Lake Burley Griffin and passes city landmarks and natural areas such as Parliament House, Red Hill, Mt Taylor, Stromlo Forest Park, the National Arboretum, Black Mountain, Mt Majura and Mt Ainslie. The full course takes in most of Canberra's significant sights.
The event can be entered as a solo 100 km effort or as a relay team of two to four members covering four legs. The course is marked and numbered checkpoints and transition compounds are staffed; failure to be recorded at a checkpoint incurs a time penalty. Aid stations are provided roughly every 10 km and relay transition points carry full supplies including water, sports drink, food, first aid and toilets.
Mandatory equipment rules require every competitor to carry a mobile phone; solo runners must carry at least 500 ml of water for the event and may be required to carry a headlamp and have a helper or pacer when starting the final leg late in the day. Listening devices are not permitted and runners must give way to traffic at all road crossings. Awards include medals for all solo finishers and trophies for top solo and team placings.
