Sri Chinmoy 5K Races in Battersea Park
The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team organises a series of 5K races in Battersea Park and has run events in London since 1981. For this season the programme includes three 5K races, with one scheduled in June and two scheduled in September, and the annual Relay event on 21 July.
The course is two laps on traffic free avenues inside Battersea Park. The route is UK Athletics certified for accuracy and is manually timed to UKA standards. The organisers describe the course as flat and suitable for fast times.
Race headquarters is on Carriage Drive East between the Boating Lake and the Millennium Arena running track, about 30 metres from Pear Tree Cafe. The start line is approximately 300 metres from the Race HQ.
All runners must register online. Race numbers are mailed to entrants the week before the event and registration closes three days prior or when the race is full. A baggage drop area is provided at Race HQ; valuables are left at the entrant's own risk and all items should fit in one bag. A baggage tag is sent with the race number.
General information includes a minimum age of 12 years, public toilets in the park, free parking inside Rosary Gate or Chelsea Gate car parks after 5pm, and showers and changing rooms at the Millennium Arena for a fee of £3. The event welcomes entrants who identify as female, male, or non binary while race rankings record male and female categories in line with relevant athletics regulations.
