Event overview
The 2026 Spring Memorial takes place on May 23, 2026 at Lake Accotink in Springfield, Virginia. The event offers three distance categories:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half marathon
Points from these races count toward the organizer's Year-Long 5k, 10k, Endurance and Back of the Pack Series, and toward the Spring Series. A virtual race option is available. Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Dri-fit) event shirt, and chip timing.
Course, services and logistics
Courses use out-and-back routes around Lake Accotink. The 5k is an out-and-back trail on the lake south side. The 10k uses an out-and-back on the north side for part of the route, then an out-and-back on the south side; it is mostly trail with a substantial paved section. The half runs approximately 5 miles out on the north side before returning and completing the 5k course; roughly 50% of the half is on pavement. Water stations are provided at multiple mile markers: eight on the half, three on the 10k, and one on the 5k; some stations will offer Gatorade. Restrooms are located near the top of the hill by the beach. Packet pickup is available at the event. Live results will be posted online, and final results with series points are posted after the race.
Fees, awards and charity
Advance registration fees listed by the organizer vary by distance and increase after mid-May and on race morning. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed for registrations before May 13. Awards include top three overall male and female and first and second place male and female in age groups 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+. The event partners with the EOD Warrior Foundation, which provides financial assistance and support to EOD service members, veterans and their families.
