Course, rules and on-course services
The courses run along the pancake flats near Vancouver Lake and the Columbia River and are described as flat and fast with smooth pavement on the bike route and minimal elevation gain. The duathlon bike leg contains no railroad crossings. The event adheres to USAT rules for triathlon and duathlon, including no drafting and mandatory helmets for the bike. Music is not allowed on the bike; during running segments only one earbud may be used. Water and Gatorade stations are placed at run turnarounds and approximately every 2 miles on the running courses. Porta-potties are provided at the start/finish and at points along the run courses. A bike mechanic will be on site.
Awards, amenities and beneficiary
Participants receive a technical runner’s shirt and finisher’s medal. Post-event offerings include a meal and beer. Awards are given to overall and masters champions, age-group places, Clydesdale (men 220+ lb) and Athena (women 165+ lb) divisions, and duathlon relay divisions. The event supports Ainsley’s Angels.
