Community Free Clinic Spirit of America 5 Miler and Fun Run
The event takes place at 2901 Point Mallard Dr SE in Decatur, Alabama, using trails and park roads near the Spirit Field and the pickleball building. It comprises a longer, chip timed race and a shorter community fun run.

The 5 Mile course starts on the road adjacent to a parking lot, circles the Spirit Field on a paved trail, follows a service road beside the golf course to the northwest trailhead, then returns on trail to the small pavilion near the pickleball building. Runners encounter one water station that is passed twice. Surface breakdown is approximately 2.4 miles paved and 2.6 miles firm crushed gravel. Timing uses a chip ring attached to the race bib; bibs must be worn on the lower front of the body. Awards are given for Overall Male and Female, Masters Male and Female, and age groups for males and females: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 and above.
The Fun Run is a loop on park road and trail and has no awards. Regular registration fees are listed as $25 for the 5 Mile and $20 for the Fun Run. Friday evening packet pickup and registration for the 5 Mile is available at Cross Eyed Owl Pub, 105 1st Ave NE, Decatur. Race day sign-up and packet pickup take place at the small pavilion at the trailhead by the pickleball building with a separate race day fee. Parking is available in the water park lot or along the Spirit Field; do not park in the lot between the pickleball building and the event center.
