Event Overview

The SpeakUp5k, also known as The Dominion Payroll SpeakUp5k, is a community event focused on celebrating mental health. It offers a 5k distance.

Location & Date

The in-person event takes place at Byrd Park, specifically on the Vita Course at 1001 Blanton Avenue in Richmond, Virginia. A virtual 5k option is also available for participants who cannot attend in person. The event is scheduled for a Saturday in October.

Event Details

The event is described as more than a race, featuring fun zones, music, and bubbles. On-site logistics include a bag check service that opens at 8:00 AM, designated team meet-up areas marked with balloons, and starting corrals organized by mile pace, with separate signs for walkers. A post-race party area offers snacks, water, music, and vendors. For safety, dogs are not permitted in Byrd Park, Maymont, or on the course. Parking is available in the Dogwood Dell lot next to The Carillon, and carpooling is recommended.

Registration & Participation

Registration is available for both the in-person and virtual 5k events. The price for the in-person 5k is $30, with an increase scheduled after May 31, 2026. The virtual 5k costs $35, with a price increase after July 31, 2026. Virtual participants will have their race packets mailed to them if registered by a specified date in September.
