Spa Running Festival
The Spa Running Festival takes place in Hot Springs, Arkansas, offering participants the opportunity to run through the scenic historic downtown area and Hot Springs National Park. The event features multiple race distances that traverse landmark locations such as Bathhouse Row and various mountain paths.
The festival includes the follow distances:
- 13.1 Miles (Summit2Summit Half Marathon): A USATF certified course that goes over Hot Springs Mountain/North Mountain and West Mountain.
- 10K (6.2 Miles): A USATF certified course and part of the Arkansas Grand Prix Series that includes running on West Mountain.
- 5K (3.1 Miles): A flat, out-and-back course that takes runners through downtown bathhouse row on Central Avenue.
- 1K (Spa Squirt Race): A dedicated race for children aged 2-10, with parents allowed to accompany the younger participants.
The half marathon and 10K events have a participation cap of 675 runners each, while the 5K is capped at 600 participants. Runners in the half marathon must maintain an 18:00 minute per mile pace, while 10K participants must maintain a 19.21 pace and 5K participants a 24.08 pace.
All participants receive a long-sleeve technical shirt and a finisher's medal. The event includes a Friday expo at the Hot Springs Convention Center. The finish line area features a festival atmosphere with live music and food offerings, including burgers, soup, pizza, and a beer tent.
