Sowebo Gateway 5K (formerly Sowebo Landmark 5K)
The Sowebo Gateway 5K is scheduled for September 26, 2026, at 3301 Waterview Ave, Baltimore, MD. The course begins on the trail near the playground at Middle Branch Park, proceeds past the Baltimore Rowing Center onto Waterview Avenue, turns onto Kloman Street, passes new townhouses and park development, then turns around to return to Middle Branch Park via the waterside trail. The route takes participants underneath the Hanover Street Bridge toward the Maryland Vietnam Veterans Memorial and then loops back along a park trail to the finish.
The event includes postrace refreshments and music, an awards ceremony, and a resource and vendor fair on site. Medals are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall male and female finishers, to top finishers in 13 male and 13 female age categories, and in a stroller category. All 5K participants receive Sowebo Gateway 5K t-shirts.
Registration opens May 6, 2026, and closes June 30, 2026; the registration fee is $30. The Southwest Sports and Fitness Alliance continues stewardship of the race, and this edition is presented in collaboration with the South Baltimore Gateway Partnership. Recent editions recorded over 220 participants in 2024 and 236 registered runners in 2025, and more than 100 volunteers typically support the event each year.
