SBTF Race for Research

The Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation Race for Research is an annual fundraising walk and run held at Atlantic Station in Atlanta, Georgia. The event brings together patients, caregivers, families, friends and coworkers affected by brain tumors and is staged rain or shine. The next edition is scheduled for September 19, 2026.

Since its start in 2000 as a small local event, the Race for Research has grown into a community gathering that regularly welcomes more than 1,000 participants and has raised over $3 million to support the brain tumor community. The atmosphere is described as tailgate style, with teams setting up tents to connect and share why they support the foundation.

The event includes commemorative elements that honor survivors, caregivers and current patients, including a Wall of Honor and a Survivor Tree. Treatment centers and local businesses attend to provide resources and information. Opening and closing ceremonies recognize top fundraisers, sponsors and volunteers.

Distances offered at the event include:

  • 1k walk/run
  • 5k walk/run
  • 50 yard Tot-trot for children under six years of age

Registration for the next race is slated to open in June 2026. The event also notes a recent 25th anniversary edition and ongoing partnerships with community sponsors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
