Cape Cod Marathon Weekend
The Cape Cod Marathon Weekend is produced by the Falmouth Running Club, a non-profit running club, and takes place in early October at Mullen-Hall School in Falmouth, Massachusetts. Events are staged along Vineyard Sound and coastal roads on Cape Cod. Courses are open to traffic but are monitored by police, flaggers, and volunteers.
Races offered include:
- Marathon - 26.2 miles
- Half Marathon - out and back along the Falmouth coastline of Nantucket Sound with a short hill near the 3.5 and 9.75 mile marks
- 5K - short road race on Sunday
- Marathon Relay - five legs ranging from 2.8 to 7.5 miles
- Clam Chowdah Challenge - Marathon plus Half Marathon totaling 39.3 miles
- Lobstah Challenge - Half Marathon plus 5K
- Kids' Fun Run - one or more loops around a one fifth mile cinder track
The marathon course is described as flat and fast and noted as Boston Qualifier friendly with ocean views. The event lists sponsors such as Shipwrecked, Martha's Vineyard Bank, The Enterprise, and Marathon Sports. The weekend includes fundraising organizations and merchandise options. Registration opens on December 1st. The event does not allow buying, selling, or trading bib numbers and does not permit bandit runners for safety reasons.
