Cape Cod Marathon Weekend
The Cape Cod Marathon Weekend is produced by the Falmouth Running Club, a non-profit organization, and takes place in Falmouth, Massachusetts at Mullen-Hall School, 130 Katharine Lee Bates Road. The event is staged over two days in October and includes multiple road races and combined challenge events.
Courses run along Vineyard Sound and other coastal roads with views of Martha's Vineyard and the waters of Nantucket Sound. The half marathon is described as a fast, scenic out-and-back route that hugs the Falmouth coastline and includes one short hill near the 3.5 and 9.75 mile markers. The full marathon is described as a flat, fast course that is BQ friendly. All courses are open to traffic but are monitored by police, flaggers and volunteers.
Combined weekend options are available: the Clam Chowdah Challenge pairs the half and full marathons for a total of 39.3 miles, and the Lobstah Challenge pairs the half marathon with the 5K. The marathon relay follows the full marathon course and is divided into five legs ranging from 2.8 to 7.5 miles. A Kids' Fun Run takes place on a cinder track using one or more loops of 1/5 mile. Registration opens on December 1st. Sponsors and community fundraising partners support the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
