Cape Cod Marathon Weekend
The Cape Cod Marathon Weekend is an annual sporting event organized by the Falmouth Running Club. Held in Falmouth, Massachusetts, the event takes place in early October during the start of the fall foliage season. The courses follow the coastline of Vineyard Sound and Nantucket Sound, providing views of Martha's Vineyard and coastal roads. The race routes are open to traffic but are monitored by police, flaggers, and volunteers.
Participants can choose from a variety of distances and multi-day challenges:
- Marathon: A flat and fast course held on Sunday.
- Half Marathon: A scenic out-and-back course on Saturday with two short hills.
- Marathon Relay: A five-leg team race following the full marathon course on Sunday.
- 5k: A short-distance race held on Sunday.
- Clam Chowdah Challenge: A combined event totaling 39.3 miles (Half Marathon on Saturday and Marathon on Sunday).
- Lobstah Challenge: A combined event involving the Half Marathon on Saturday and the 5k on Sunday.
- Kids' Fun Run: One or more loops around a 1/5-mile cinder track on Sunday.
The event prohibits the buying, selling, or trading of bib numbers. Registration fees include mandatory charges and items, with price increases scheduled throughout the year leading up to the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
