Phoenix: South Wales - Christmas Jumper Run
The event takes place on Sunday 7 December 2025 at Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre, Rhydycar, Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales. Entry fees are listed as £33.00 for affiliated runners and £35.00 for unaffiliated runners. As per UK Athletics rules, distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under. The organiser states that all participants receive a physical giveaway medal or memento; entries received on or after 22 October 2025 will receive a finisher medal instead of the Christmas jumper. The organiser also provides a bespoke long-sleeved technical running top to entrants.
Course and format
The event uses a looped out-and-back course along the Taff Trail. One lap is 5.3 km (3.28 miles) on entirely tarmac surfaces, with about 63 m elevation gain and loss per lap. The minimum distance is one lap (3.28 miles); participants may complete multiple laps up to the overall 7-hour event limit. The route starts behind Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre, heads south to a first turnaround, returns to the centre, then continues north to a second turnaround near Merthyr College before returning to the aid station to finish a lap. The format allows a flexible rock-up start within a one-hour start window. Runners and walkers may take part.
