Event overview
The South Pennine 24 takes place on Saturday 28 February 2026. The route is 24 miles long with 3900 ft of ascent through the Dark Peak and the South Pennine Moors. The terrain includes wild moorland, well graded footpaths and bridleways. The event is hosted by the South Pennine Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA). No dogs are allowed.
Route and support
A route description and a walked GPX file will be sent to entrants from mid February. The event is fully supported with drinks and pastries before the start, food and drink at four checkpoints, and soup at the finish. Certificates are available to finishers on request. There is a ten hour time limit.
Entry and logistics
Event headquarters and start/finish are at Dovestone Sailing Club, Dovestone Reservoir, Bank Lane, Greenfield, OL3 7NE. Pay and display parking is available on site. Entries are limited to 150 places; the event is currently full and new entries are placed on a waiting list. No payment is required while on the waiting list; if a place is offered, entrants will be invited to complete payment to confirm entry. LDWA members receive a discounted fee; LDWA membership costs from £15 per year. The minimum age for entry is 18. Entry fees for this event are £17 for LDWA members and £25 for non-members.
