South Padre Island Muzicians Run 5k/10k - October 24, 2026
The South Padre Island Muzicians Run is an evening run/walk event held at Beach Waterpark (previously Schlitterbahn Waterpark) in South Padre Island, Texas. The event features live mariachi and other musicians performing along the course at roughly every half mile, and an after-party with tacos and a complimentary beer or margarita served in a logoed cup.

Entries are chip timed for the 5K and 10K and include a commemorative bib, a 5 inch finisher medal, a mariachi-design tek shirt (unisex sizes XSMALL to 5XL), and an event decal. Drawstring bags are available to the first 500 packet pickup attendees. Age group awards and overall male and female awards are given for both 5K and 10K. A Dia De Los Muertos memorial banner is part of the event.
Courses are flat out-and-back routes that start near sunset and are open for 1 hour and 45 minutes. There are cup-less water refill stations located at mariachi/music points along the route. For safety, 10K participants must reach the 1.55 mile marker within 26 minutes to continue; a sag vehicle will assist participants who do not meet course time limits. Strollers are allowed in the 1 Mile and 5K only. Only service animals are permitted in accordance with ADA rules.
The event benefits the Musicians Foundation and the South Padre Island Birding, Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuary.
