South Padre Island Muzicians Run 5k/10k

The South Padre Island Muzicians Run is an evening-themed fun run and walk held at Beach Waterpark at Isla Blanca on South Padre Island. The event offers timed chip results for the 5K and 10K distances and a separate 1 mile option. Live mariachi musicians perform along the course at roughly half-mile intervals and an on-site mariachi after party follows the finish with a complimentary taco and a choice of beer or margarita for participants.

Included with registration are a 5-inch finisher medal, a unisex tek shirt with a mariachi design, a commemorative bib and decal, and a logoed plastic cup. Drawstring bags are distributed to the first 500 packet pickup attendees. Age group awards and overall male and female awards are given for the 5K and 10K. A Dia de los Muertos memorial banner is part of the event program.

The courses are flat out-and-back routes open for 1 hour and 45 minutes with cup-less water refill stations located at music points. 10K participants must reach the 1.55 mile marker within 26 minutes to continue on the 10K course; a sag vehicle is available for participants who do not meet time limits. Strollers are allowed in the 1 mile and 5K events, and only service animals are permitted on course.
