Event overview
The Fools Run 5K & 10K takes place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Margaritaville Beach Resort on South Padre Island, TX. The event is a multi-distance beach event held over two days with post-race activities at the resort. A portion of proceeds will benefit Friends of Animal Rescue, a 501(c)(3) organization on South Padre Island that reunites lost pets, finds homes for unclaimed animals, provides veterinary care, and runs a trap-and-release program.

Course, awards and services
Both the 10K and 5K start and end on the beach at Margaritaville Beach Resort. The 10K is chip-timed and offers water and gatorade stations along the course and at the finish. The 5K is designated as a participation walk, with the option to jog or run. Kids 1-Mile also starts and ends on the beach. Medals will be given to overall male and female winners and to 1st through 3rd place in each age division for the 10K; overall winners are ineligible for age-division awards. All finishers receive finisher medals while supplies last. A costume contest with prizes will follow the event.
Registration, fees and logistics
Early and late registration tiers are listed, with on-site late registration available Friday and Saturday at the resort. T-shirt requests require registration by Friday, March 6, 2026. Registrations are non-refundable and the event will continue rain or shine. Hotel room blocks are available at Margaritaville Beach Resort and Isla Grand Beach Resort with a published nightly rate.
