South Downs Way Ultra Run

The South Downs Way Ultra Run is a guided trail event of 30 miles starting and finishing on Harting Down, West Sussex. The route follows sections of the South Downs Way and nearby trails, including Beacon Hill, Cocking Down and Kingley Vale. The course passes through ancient woodland, small villages and nature reserves and includes parts of the Sussex Border Path, the Shipwrights Way and the Staunton Way. Kingley Vale is noted on the route for its twisted, ancient yew trees and a grove of veteran trees.

Practical information

The organiser is Running Adventures, based in Guildford, Surrey. Events are listed for 12 October 2025 and 28 February 2026; tickets for these event dates are currently sold out. The listed cost is £45 per person. A National Trust car park is available at Harting Down and the meeting point is close to road A3 links; the start is a short run or taxi ride from a nearby train station. The run is not a race and will be led as a group. Participants are advised to have completed at least 22 miles in training and to be able to run around 10 min/mile | 6 min/km on trail for prolonged periods.
