Sorrell Hill
Sorrell Hill is a mountain running event in County Wicklow centred on Black Hill and Sorrell Hill, organised as part of the Leinster League. The long route climbs approximately 544 m and covers 10.00 km, with a short course option of 4.50 km. The route is fully marked and GPS devices are allowed. The event difficulty notes moderate terrain with more than 500 m of ascent and a distance band of 6 km to 10 km. Mandatory Level B kit is required and includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The kit to be carried may be finalised on the day depending on conditions and random checks may be carried out.
The course starts from Lodge Lane with a tarmac section before a trail ascent to the summit of Black Hill, then descends to Gap Road, crosses and climbs to Sorrell Hill, and returns via forest trails and the Mass Path to Lacken village. Registration and prizegiving take place at Zellers in Lacken. Entries are limited to 200 places; entries open Monday 29 June 2026 and close Wednesday 1 July 2026. Parking in Lacken is limited; a public carpark at Blessington Bridge is a few kilometres away. Short course starts and finishes at the Mass Path in Lacken.
