About the race
The Sorghum Shuffle 5K takes place on October 3, 2026 in downtown Springfield, Kentucky, at 124 West Main Street, Springfield, KY 40069. The event distance is 5K (3.1 miles) and it is organized by the Springfield Washington County Chamber of Commerce. The event is part of the United Way Tri-County Trifecta alongside the Spirit 5K in Bardstown and the Pokey Pig 5K in Lebanon; completing all three events earns extra swag from Tri-County Kentucky United Way.
Sponsors for the event include Sell with Hale Realty and Auction, KORT Physical Therapy Springfield, and McCain Brothers. Working with sponsors, the event supports the Washington County Schools FRYSC program; participants who bring non-perishable food or hygiene items at check-in receive vouchers to local businesses. Participants who register by September 21, 2026 will receive a Sorghum Shuffle T-shirt; t-shirts are not available after that ordering deadline.
Packet pickup will be available at the start/finish line in front of the Main Stage on Main Street. Pricing is listed as $20 per individual through September 21, 2026 and $25 per individual after that date. Children age 9 and under may enter free of charge; that entry does not include a t-shirt. Awards will be given to the top overall male and female finishers and to top male and female finishers in the following age groups: 12 and under, 13-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-55, and 56 and over.
