Sonoma Elementary All Aboard Express Run
The Sonoma Elementary All Aboard Express Run is a community sports event held in Las Cruces, New Mexico, marking the 20th anniversary of Sonoma Elementary School. This event replaces the traditional school Jog-A-Thon and serves as a celebration for families, alumni, and local community members.
Participants can choose between two main distances:
- 5 km (All Aboard 5k)
- 1 mile (Fun Run)
The 5 km race utilizes an RFID chip timing system with camera backup to record participant times. To ensure accurate results, runners are required to wear their assigned bib numbers horizontally on the front of their shirts without folding or crumpling them. Both adult and child registration options are available for both distances.
Participants who register before the early April deadline are entitled to an event T-shirt while supplies last. All finishers receive a custom train engine race medal. Proceeds from the event, including registrations and donations, are used for school and playground improvements, such as maintaining the 20-year-old facilities to provide a safe environment for students.
A packet pickup is organized the day before the race at Sonoma Elementary, with additional pickup available on race morning at the Organ Mountain High School Track concession stand. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
