Reason to Run 5K : Sofia's Hope
Reason to Run is an annual charity 5K presented by Nicklaus Health System that includes an in-person event and a virtual option. The in-person event takes place on November 7, and the virtual option runs from October 31 through November 7. Organizers expect a few hundred attendees.
Participants will run or walk through the Deering Estate area and gather at a Family Festival overlooking Biscayne Bay. The festival offers food and drinks, music, activities, and prizes awarded to top fundraisers. The first 425 participants, whether in-person or virtual, will receive an official medal and shirt. Race swag for virtual participants will be mailed after November 7.
Registration is open until the start of the race. Fees are $35 for adults and $30 for participants under 18; fees increase by $10 on Friday, November 6 at midnight. Participants may organize individual or team fundraisers; participants who raise $100 will receive a refund of their registration fee. Local childhood cancer warriors and their families are invited as guests with free registration.
The event includes onsite festival elements such as a vibrant photo wall provided by an event partner and recognizes multiple personal stories that motivate the community. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
