Reason to Run 5K
Reason to Run is a 5K event organized by Sofia's Hope with both an in-person and a virtual option. The in-person event takes place around the Deering Estate area and finishes with a Family Festival overlooking Biscayne Bay featuring food, drinks, music, activities, and prizes for top fundraisers. Organizers anticipate a few hundred attendees. The event is presented by Nicklaus Health System.
Virtual participants may walk or run anytime between October 31 to November 7. The first 425 participants, whether in-person or virtual, will receive an official medal and shirt. Race swag for virtual participants will be mailed after November 7.
Online registration is accepted until the start of the race. Entry fees listed for this edition are $35 for adults and $30 for participants under 18; fees increase by $10 on November 6 at midnight. Participants may create individual or team fundraisers; participants who raise $100 will receive a refund of their registration fee.
Local childhood cancer warriors and their families are invited to attend as guests with free registration. The event highlights personal stories and reasons for participating and includes community and sponsor involvement to support Sofia's Hope programs and services.
