8th Annual SoDel Cares 5k Run / Walk & Non Competitive Mile Walk
The SoDel Cares 5k Run / Walk is an annual community event held in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The event starts and finishes at the Thompson Island Brewing Company on Veterans Way. The primary purpose of the gathering is to support SoDel Cares, the philanthropic branch of SoDel Concepts, which provides funding to local organizations assisting children, at-risk youth, and the elderly.
Participants can choose from several event distances and formats:
- 5k run
- 5k walk (competitive)
- One mile walk (non-competitive and non-timed)
The competitive 5k walk requires participants to maintain a walking gait throughout the entire course without jogging or running. Timing for the competitive events is managed by R2R Timing using the MYLAPS BibTag system. Awards are presented to top finishers, including overall male and female winners, masters winners, and the top three finishers in age groups ranging from 13 and under to 80 and over.
Amenities provided to registered participants include event tee shirts while supplies last and access to a post-race party featuring live music, a breakfast buffet, and refreshments from Thompson Island Brewery. Due to insurance and liability requirements, dogs are not permitted on the course. Packet pick-up is available the day before the event or on the morning of the race.
