The course runs on the Santa Ana River Trail from Yorba Linda to Huntington Beach State Park. The route crosses dryer desert areas, passes regions near Disneyland, and finishes by the ocean. It is described as primarily flat and straight, with a gradual downhill slant that follows the river toward the ocean. The route was cleaned up of homeless tents two years ago and is not fenced in nightly.
