Snowy Owl 10 Mile
Snowy Owl 10 Mile is a trail race at York River State Park on Sunday, Jan 3, 2027. The course covers ten miles and combines technical single track, dirt fire roads, about one mile of road, and a short paved downhill to the finish. Approximately five miles are technical single track. The route includes rocky sections, twisting trails, a boardwalk with views, and faster fire road segments. Total elevation gain is about 600 feet across rolling terrain.
The event provides three aid stations with water and light snacks such as gels and fruit. Aid stations are located near mile 1.5 (also accessible again near mile 9), mile 3.5, and mile 6. Hot coffee, cocoa, and additional snacks will be available at the finish while supplies last. The event uses a four hour cutoff, which accommodates hiking as an option.
This edition is organized as a no frills event to keep entry costs lower. Features that will be provided include official overall and age group results posted after the race, a finisher medal, PR awards for faster times on the course, free parking, aid stations, and a well marked course. Hats and T shirts are not included and require separate purchase; limited additional apparel may be available at the event. If dangerous weather is forecast, the event may be moved to Sunday, Jan 10 with no refunds or deferrals to the following year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
