Event
The Snowy Owl 10 mile is a trail race at York River State Park in Williamsburg, VA on Sunday, January 4, 2026. The course covers a mix of surfaces with an overall elevation gain of about 600 feet. About five miles are technical single-track trail, roughly 0.75 mile is on road, and the remainder is on dirt fire roads.
Course and logistics
The course includes rocky sections, twisting single track, a boardwalk, and sections of fast fire road, with some rolling terrain. The detailed breakdown by mile is: 0-1.5 mile fire road dirt trail; 1.5-3.5 mile single track; 3.5-4.5 mile fire road; 4.5-6 mile single track; 6-7.5 mile fire road; 7.5-8.5 mile single track; 8.5-9.25 mile fire road; 9.25-10 mile paved downhill to the finish.
There are three aid stations on course offering water and light snacks (gels, fruit): Marl Ravine (around 1.5 and 9 miles), Riverview (around 3.5 miles), and Majestic Oak (around 6 miles). Hot drinks and additional snacks will be available at the finish. Packet pick-up is race morning only, beginning at 7:30. All finishers receive a ceramic medal; registered participants receive a race logo item, a winter hat, and park entry. Awards are given to overall top three and top three in 10-year age groups male and female. The event has a four-hour cutoff and benefits AWARE, which will have owls and educational information onsite. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
