St. Kateri's Run/Walk with the Son for Haiti 5K
St. Kateri’s Run/Walk with the Son for Haiti is a community 5K event held at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Yorktown, VA. The 2026 edition marks the 20th anniversary of the Run with the Son for Haiti. All proceeds support education for children in Boucan Carre, Haiti; the previous year’s funds provided school tuition, uniforms, books, a daily vitamin, and a hot meal for over 300 students for the school year.
The event program includes early packet pickup the day before, race day check-in and registration, pickup food and drinks before and after the event, live music performed by the Tabb High School Jazz Band, many give-aways, a prize raffle, a special raffle for a three-night Outer Banks condo, and a silent auction with a drawing on race day. Entry fees include one raffle ticket and a t-shirt is guaranteed for entries meeting the organizer’s deadline.
Awards recognize the top three overall male and female runners, top three in 16 age groups through 80 and above, and top three male and female walk finishers. There is a high school team challenge based on the average of the top five runners and an elementary/middle school trophy for the school with the most participants. The event is a Peninsula Track Club Grand Prix and Hampton Roads Super Grand Prix event; no PTC passes are accepted and official times are not recorded after 45 minutes from the race start.
