Snowman Triathlon & Duathlon
The Snowman Triathlon and Duathlon is a multi-terrain endurance event held at Plas y Brenin, Capel Curig, in Eryri (Snowdonia). Races begin beneath Yr Wyddfa and combine a lake swim, mountain road cycling and a trail run through Dyffryn Ogwen onto the slopes of Moel Siabod. The swim takes place in Llynau Mymbyr.
Distances offered include:
- Sprint: 750 m swim, 27.1 km bike, 6.2 km run.
- Standard: 1500 m swim, 69.1 km bike, 8.7 km run.
- Legend (70.3): 1900 m swim, 95.6 km bike, 21.2 km run.
- Sprint Duathlon: 2.2 km run, 27.1 km bike, 6.2 km run.
The event village includes music, commentary, shopping, food and chill out zones. There are family finishes and on-course support such as marshals, signage and pick up vehicles. Participants receive a finisher memento and results are recorded with chip timing and published online.
The headline charity partner is the Mountain Adventure Fund, an initiative of the Mountain Training Trust operating at Plas y Brenin to support children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Entrants can add a donation when booking, and a limited number of free spaces are available for fundraisers with a minimum sponsorship requirement of £200.
