Snow Peaks 50 Mile Trail Run - 2026
Snow Peaks is a 50 mile loop in the Wasatch Mountains above Provo, Utah. The course includes roughly 10,000 feet of elevation gain and loss and five major climbs, with individual climbs ranging from about 1,100 feet to nearly 3,000 feet. The first major ascent rises about 2,700 feet over 5 miles and the final high point sits near 9,300 feet, followed by a descent of nearly 4,000 feet over the final 9+ miles.
Terrain mixes single track, dirt roads, and pavement; the course composition is approximately 43% single track, 38% dirt roads, and 19% pavement. Notable paved stretches occur at the start along the Provo River Trail, a midcourse road segment near Hobble Creek, and the final miles through South Fork Provo Canyon. Orange flagging marks the route; orange plus blue flagging marks critical turns. If no flagging appears within about a quarter to a half mile, participants should confirm position with their device.
Nine staffed aid stations are spaced about 4 to 7 miles apart. Some stations accept drop bags and limited crew access, with restrictions at certain locations and a safety cutoff at Little Valley to allow time to clear Windy Pass before dark. The event is cup-less; participants must carry a reusable cup. Mandatory gear includes a cell phone or GPS with the course loaded and a headlamp. Recommended items include trekking poles, rain jacket, and an emergency blanket. Course sections may be snow covered depending on conditions; the route can be modified when necessary.
