Smoky Mountain Relay (2026)

The Smoky Mountain Relay on April 24–25, 2026 is a team relay covering over 200 miles through the Blue Ridge Mountains west of Asheville, North Carolina. The route begins at the Pisgah Ranger Station Visitor Center just outside Brevard in Pisgah National Forest and finishes at the Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson City.

Teams of six, nine, or twelve people split the course into 36 legs. The route runs through a mix of terrain, including trail sections, gravel and dirt forest service roads, and paved roadways. Some legs include roadway sections that may be run at night.

The course passes through mountain forests, river valleys, and farmland west of Asheville. The event has been held for more than a decade and is organized as a long-distance, multi-leg relay taking place across a series of public roads and forest routes.
