Race format and eligibility
The swim takes place in a pool and is run as a time trial with one athlete started every 10 seconds. A rolling swim start is also used, with recommended start windows based on expected swim time. Entry rules state minimum age limits: the individual and relay events are open to ages 12 and up, and the aquabike is open to ages 12 through 99.
