Smith Point Sprint Triathlon
The Smith Point Sprint Triathlon takes place at Smith Point County Park in Shirley, New York. It includes several event formats:
- Individual Triathlon
- Triathlon Relay
- High School Individual (for ages 14-18)
- High School Relay
- AquaBike
- Bike Run (which has no swim component)
The sprint-distance triathlon itself consists of three segments. It begins with a 500-meter swim in Narrow Bay. The bike leg is a 10.2-mile ride on William Floyd Parkway and over the Smith Point Bridge, which is described as two loops for this event. The final segment is a scenic 5-kilometer run that also crosses the bridge and finishes at the Atlantic Ocean.
All participants receive a finisher medal. Free photos from the event are provided by Endurance Sports Photography Long Island and posted online. Participants who register after July 28th are not guaranteed a race shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
