Smith Point Sprint Triathlon
The Smith Point Sprint Triathlon takes place on August 2, 2026 at Smith Point County Park in Shirley, NY. The event is a USAT sanctioned sprint triathlon with specific equipment and membership requirements.
Distances:
- Swim: 500 meters
- Bike: 10.2 miles
- Run: 5 kilometers
The swim occurs in Narrow Bay and is described as calm. The bike course is flat and has been changed to two laps to increase police coverage. The run crosses a bridge and finishes at an Atlantic Ocean beach-front finish line. Cutoff limits apply: swim 30 minutes, bike 1 hour 40 minutes, run 2 hours 30 minutes.
Wetsuit rules follow USAT temperature ranges: wetsuits allowed at or below 78°F; allowed at athlete discretion but ineligible for awards from 78.1°F to 83.9°F; not permitted at 84°F and above. All participants must have a valid USA Triathlon membership or purchase a one-day license to race.
Packet pick-up is scheduled in the days before the event at local locations including Babylon Bike Shop and Shirley Marina County Park; race morning pickup incurs an additional fee. Entries are nonrefundable; transfers incur a fee or may be deferred by volunteering. Relay teams may include two or three members.
Awards are given to top overall male and female finishers, top relays, challenged athletes, Clydesdale and Athena categories, and top three in standard age groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
