Smith Point Sprint Triathlon
The Smith Point Sprint Triathlon takes place on August 2, 2026, at Smith Point County Park in Shirley, NY. The event is a sprint-distance triathlon with separate swim, bike, and run legs.
- SWIM: 500 meters
- BIKE: 10.2 miles
- RUN: 5 kilometers
The swim is held in Narrow Bay and is described as calm. The bike course is flat and has been revised to consist of two laps to increase police coverage. The run crosses a bridge and finishes at an Atlantic Ocean beachfront finish line.
Packet pick-up is available at local locations including Babylon Bike Shop and Shirley Marina County Park, with an option to pick up a packet on race morning for an additional fee. All participants must pick up their own packet and relay teams receive a single team packet at check in.
This event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and all participants must hold a valid USAT license or purchase a one-day membership. Wetsuits are permitted under specified water temperature rules and may affect award eligibility. Timing is electronic and participants receive timing chips in their race packets.
Race rules include mandatory helmet use during the bike portion, no headphones, no drafting, and clear race number display for identification.
