SMHS PAC and HSEP Gumbo Run 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
This annual event takes place at Scotlandville Magnet High School, 9870 Scotland Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70807. It features two distances:
- 1 Mile fun run/walk
- 5K (3.1 Miles) run/walk
Race day registration is held in front of the school and parking is available near the gym with additional spaces across the school on Central Road. Participants receive a t-shirt and a bib race number. Gumbo is served to racers as they finish.
Entry fees are listed by distance and category. The 1 Mile fee is $10. The 5K fee is $25 for adults and $10 for students and children 17 and under. A team discount is available for the 5K: teams of five adults or more are charged $20 each. Once a fifth team member joins, earlier team members receive a $5 refund and subsequent team members pay the discounted rate at checkout. Fees are non refundable.
Awards include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall and top three male and female finishers in each age group. Proceeds benefit SMHS NAF Academies and the event aims to promote the academies and community health and unity in North Baton Rouge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
