Ryan's Run/Walk Race For Sickle Cell Disease
Ryan’s Run/Walk takes place on December 5, 2026, in downtown Baton Rouge at the Levee Green on the Mississippi River levee. The event raises funds and awareness for people living with sickle cell disease and includes in-person and virtual participation options.
The in-person program offers timed races for runners and untimed options for walkers. Distances available include:
- 1 Mile
- 3.1 Miles (5K)
A virtual option allows participants to run either the 1 Mile or the 5K and submit results online. Race packets are scheduled for pickup on Friday, December 4, with additional packet availability at the registration table on race day; specific pickup details will be provided closer to the event. Registration fees vary by age group and registration period, with published amounts ranging from $30 to $45; the virtual option is listed at $35.
The on-course route follows the Mississippi River levee in downtown Baton Rouge, starting and finishing on the Levee Terraces at the Levee Green near the USS KIDD, with a turnaround near W. McKinley Street. The 5K program uses multiple age groups for awards, including age brackets from 1-14 up through 70 and over. Awards include top overall male and female, top by age group, top fundraising team and individual, and recognition for teams with the most participants.
